The legendary Allen Toussaint is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, 2013 National Medal of Arts recipient (awarded by President Obama), 2010 Grammy nominee, 2009 Grammy Trustees Award winner, world renowned producer, pianist, writer, arranger and singer. He has collaborated with, produced, or had his songs covered by The Rolling Stones, The Band, Paul Simon, Robert Plant / Alison Krauss, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, Phish, The Who and many more. In addition to the Presidential honor above, in 2013 alone Allen was recognized in the Downbeat Critics Poll in the best arranger category for the 3rd consecutive year and received an honorary doctorate degree of Fine Arts from Tulane University along with The Dalai Lama. He is also featured on John Fogerty's new album Wrote a Song for Everyone alongside both Jennifer Hudson and Rebirth Brass Band on the track "Proud Mary". His studio productions have sold millions of records and his catalog of songs has generated hits on the pop, R&B, country and dance charts. His new CD and DVD, Songbook (Rounder), was recorded live in New York and will be released on September 24, 2013. The release features many of Allen's classic compositions and also includes interview footage from backstage and in the studio. Allen's world-class virtuosity and incomparable contribution to music history is matched only by the incredible warmth he generates in concert with his old school Southern charm.
