BeauSoleil's Spring 2001 Anniversary Tour A Major Success

BeauSoleil's Spring 2001 Anniversary tour was a major success with BeauSoleil being joined by several of their friends, Cindy Cashdollar, Carl Landry, Sonny Landreth, Darol Anger, Daniel Thonon, and Peter Ostruoshko for the celebration. The 25th Anniversary celebration continues with pedal steel player Cindy Cashdollar joining the band on many remaining concert and festival dates throughout 2001. The Blind Boys of Alabama Letterman Appearance May 7

The Blind Boys of Alabama featuring Clarence Fountain will appear on David Letterman on May 7 in support of their new CD, Spirit Of The Century. Appearing on the show with the band will be guests from the CD including David Lindley and Charlie Musselwhite as well as Danny Thompson and Michael Jerome (Richard Thompson's rhythm section). Watch for The Blind Boys on tour in North America and Europe.


John Hammond's Wicked Grin Scores Accolades and Radio Play

John Hammond's Wicked Grin, produced by Tom Waits and featuring Waits' songs and performances, has had a tremendous reception at press and radio. Wicked Grin was the #1 Most Added CD at AAA radio in it's first two weeks out and rose to #1 on CMJ's AAA chart. Rolling Stone gave Wicked Grin a 4 Star review while Billboard featured the CD as a Spotlight selection. John is touring North America and Europe in support of the CD.


Loudon Wainwright III song featured on son Rufus' New CD

Rufus Wainwright has cut his father Loudon's song, "One Man Guy", for his new Dreamworks CD, Poses, due out April 17. Rufus is joined on the song by joined by sister Martha Wainwright and another famous offspring, Richard Thompson's son, Teddy Thompson. Loudon is just finishing his own CD for release early this Fall in conjunction with his recurring role on the new Fox / Dreamworks TV series, Undeclared.

The April 7, 2001 issue features two major pieces on The Blind Boys of Alabama's new CD, Spirit of The Century. Highlights are a color picture of The Blind Boys and photos and quotes from Peter Gabriel, whose Real World Records is releasing the new CD. An additional piece centers around Tom Petty, who contributes raves about The Blind Boys shows supporting him and The Heartbreakers.
